The increasing lack of space for the Collierville Library’s collections and the insufficient parking provided for the rapidly growing Collierville community required that the Town of Collierville enlist Fleming Architects to help them build a new Library facility. In keeping with the town’s tradition of strong community involvement, an invitation was extended to the Collierville public, welcoming residents to involve themselves in the programming and design of their new Library. This effective means of collaboration between the community, its leaders, and Fleming Architects led to the development of a beautiful, new Library building that included ample space for all of the Library’s collections, 30 public-use computer stations, a children’s “Story Time” space, quiet rooms, public meeting spaces, and conference rooms.
The library system in Collierville was established in the 1930’s when the Memphis and Shelby County Public Library would bring the bookmobile to the Collierville Town Square.
