The Tiger Banking Center, located on the second level of the University of Memphis’s Bookstore, was designed specifically with the college student in mind. First South Credit Union requested a space that would be welcoming and comfortable, establishing an unintimidating environment that would draw students into the Banking Center. The Center includes a welcome desk, lounge area, conference room, and open customer service desks in lieu of the traditional teller line. Small details that paid homage to the University of Memphis were used throughout, such as the accent Tiger-striped floor and the use of the Tiger logo, and gave the space an overall student-friendly feel
The Tiger Banking Center design was unconventional, due to the fact that the space had no teller line. Many banks across the country have now adopted this form of banking, removing formal teller lines and replacing them with freestanding pods.
